Volunteering

What Does a Footpath Representative Do?

There are 25 volunteers who each cover an Island Parish. Footpaths are checked twice a year for:

  • General path condition and obstructions
  • Condition of footpath stiles, bridges and gates
  • Condition of signs

Footpath reports are sent to the Rights of Way department for action.

There are occassional meetings of Footpath Representatives to discuss common issues.

Over the last few months a number of long serving volunteers have retired and we are actively looking for members to look after the footpaths system in Brading and Shalfleet. You will be provided with all the information necessary, as well as training for this role.

Our Work Parties

We currently have about 20 people who help with the Work Parties. This work is not only interesting and varied but also very rewarding. This is a great opportunity to meet new friends and (perhaps) enjoy a pint in the pub afterwards!

Training and tools are provided.
